Dr. Mona Rashid Al Ali

Assistant Professor

An experienced professional in the field of education, museum studies and UAE Culture with several years of experience in different elite organizations, positions and roles. 

She is vice chair of ICOM UAE and a Board Member College of Business Administration (CoBA), University of Sharjah. She worked as a consultant for the Ministry of Defence, responsible for designing and managing research modules on military history and museum projects, as well as strategic planning and writing of policies.

Her previous experience includes stints as Assistant Professor and Program Manager, Art History, Islamic History and Islamic Civilization and Museum Studies Program at the University of Sharjah, College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences. Manager of Badiri Academy the educational arm of NAMA women Advancement Establishment under The Executive Office of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi. Head of Academic and Adult Programs and Head of Museological and Visitor Research at Sharjah Museums Authority in Sharjah. 

Qualification

    Mona holds a PhD in Museum Studies from University of Leicester, United Kingdom, and a Master’s degree in Education from Auckland University, New Zealand. She has participated in several national and international professional programmes such as Sharjah Leadership Programme, independent curatorship course at the University of Arts (UAL), London, and Museum Studies programme at John F. Kennedy University, USA. She is also a board member of College of Business Administration at University of Sharjah, and a regular columnist at Sail Magazine.

    Her research interest contributes to the evolving landscape of museum experiences. She is committed to understanding the multifaceted relationships between museums, their exhibits, and the diverse audiences they serve Visitor Engagement and Behavior Analysis, Inclusivity and Diversity in Museums, Impact of Educational Programs, Evaluation and Assessment, Curation and Exhibition Design, Sustainability in Museums

    Moreover, exploring the multifaceted dynamics of UAE culture, identity, and the pivotal role of women's empowerment within the United Arab Emirates. Research topics such as: Cultural Heritage and Preservation, Identity and Multiculturalism, Women's Empowerment and Gender Equality, Education and Social Change, Cultural Diplomacy, Youth Engagement and Identity Formation, Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship
